What is STEEZY (STEEZY Studio)?
STEEZY is a unique dance platform that was created to allow you to learn how to dance with step-by-step instructions from world-class dancers from around the world. STEEZY’s massive library of on-demand workouts spans across a plethora of dance modalities.
The mission is simple; teach folks how to dance by understanding the fundamental techniques so that they can build their confidence, become a better dancer, and have a ton of fun in the process!
The best part is that STEEZY is specially designed for beginners, catering to those new to dancing by offering specialized tools that allow you to do things like adjusting the tempo of the class, loop certain sections for repetition, and even mirror the instructor. It’s these features that make STEEZY the perfect option for beginners.
Classes can be accessed just about anywhere, including from the app on your smartphone or on your computer. You can also cast your class on a compatible TV.
STEEZY instructors are legitimate professionals who have impressive backgrounds. They offer a variety of class types, routines, and styles that vary throughout different skill levels. Furthermore, new classes are added to the library each and every week, ensuring that you’ll never get bored!
- Great for beginners to advanced levels
- Free trial available (here)
- Excellent app and technology
- Professional video footage with a legitimate studio
- Talented dance instructors who "walk the walk"
- Variety of dance styles
- Not sure this is a con, but you're going to have to devote time to learn the dance moves if you want to make the most of your membership
- Does require some space at home

How Much Does a STEEZY Subscription Cost?
Currently, STEEZY offers access to its ever-expanding library of workouts on a yearly basis for a one-time payment of $99, which boils down to about $8.25 per month. With your subscription, you’ll get access to over 1,500 classes, including beginner-friendly programs, mobile class downloads, and access to the exclusive STEEZY community where you can connect with others.
A little nervous to commit to a full year without first giving it a try? STEEZY allows you to try out their platform for free first for one week to get a feel for the classes and what you can expect if you sign on for the full year. Don’t love it? Cancel anytime within your week trial and you won’t be charged.
Think about it this way, the cost of hiring a dance coach would be exponentially higher, plus you’d have to travel to a studio and perform in front of someone that you may or may not connect with. STEEZY is a much less intimidating and expensive option without a doubt.
What Types of Dance Classes Are Available?
Perhaps one of the best things about STEEZY is the fact that they are so inclusive with the classes they offer. I’m seriously impressed with the number of different classes and types to choose from! Here’s the rundown of what’s currently available:
- Hip Hop
- Dance Workout
- Lite Feet
There's much more than what's shown in this image, but they teach a variety of dance styles!
Within these categories, there are 1,000+ classes to choose from, over 10 beginner programs, and 100+ instructors, so you can feel confident that you will not only find a class that you enjoy and fits your current skill level, but that you’ll be able to find instructors that resonate with your style as well.
Breaking Down the Class Levels
STEEZY is not only great for beginners, but it’s great for every level in between, too. Here’s how they break down their classes so that you can select ones that meet you where you’re currently at. And, of course, as you learn and progress, you’ll be able to bump up to new levels of dance classes!
This is where I’m at. For those like me who have two left feet, you’ll want to start here with their 10-day intro program.
Slide into this category when you’ve nailed the basics and are ready to move to the next level by learning some new moves and routines.
At this point, you’re feeling pretty confident and are ready to take on some new challenges and skills.
Already got the rhythm and flow? Check out these classes to dance and train with some of the top choreographers out there today.
Features and Benefits
As soon as I downloaded the STEEZY App and started exploring, one thing that really stuck out to me aside from the sheer volume of classes to choose from was the unique features that truly optimize your experience and allow you to really nail the dance moves.
As a true beginner, I really appreciate all the time and effort that clearly went into creating a platform that makes the online learning experience as seamless as if you were to go into a physical studio and train in person.
Here’s a list of some of those unique features:
The ability to watch the class from the front or the back.
Choose any section of the class to be played on repeat while you work on nailing it.
Instead of getting frustrated trying to keep track of right and left, you can just copy the instructor. So much less complicated!
You choose how fast or how slow the video rolls to cater to your personal needs.
Labels and timestamps allow you to jump to any section of the class any time you wish.
Turn your webcam into a virtual mirror and dance right next to the instructor for a fully immersive, realistic experience.
My Personal Experience Using STEEZY
As I have mentioned a few times in this review, I came to STEEZY as an absolute beginner. In fact, I was quite dubious about my ability to even nail anything. But, I went ahead and pushed past my perceived limitations and started with the 10-day beginner program.
I'm a beginner!
I immediately loved that they start with the absolute basics like how to be on beat and what the beat actually is. Who knew there were aspects that you needed to understand first before even taking one dance step?
Video 1 really helps you to identify the fundamentals of finding a beat and counting before you even begin moving your body, which I found to be incredibly helpful as a beginner.
Side note, my 5-year old found me working on my dancing with STEEZY and he was so excited to jump in and learn with me! STEEZY is honestly great for people of all ages. In fact, I’m pretty sure he picked up the movements before me!
If you are truly interested in learning how to dance, STEEZY will 100% get you there. Overall, I am blown away by the level of detail in the technology as well as in the programming that’s offered within the app. I’ll be honest, I really didn’t think dancing was for me, but there’s so much skill and precision that goes with it, that I found it to be such a fun challenge and a great way to mix up my fitness routine.
Ratings and Reviews
I never expect you to just take my word for it, so I always take a look around the internet to get a feel for what other real users are saying about their experience. Since STEEZY is an app, a good place to check reviews is inside the app store.
When it comes to STEEZY reviews, there are currently 9.4k ratings in the Apple app store with an average rating of 4.7/5. Reading through the reviews, it’s overwhelmingly evident that those new to dancing are finding exactly what they need. The overall sentiment is that the app features that allow for total customization of the classes are helping people really to be able to legitimately learn to dance at their own pace, and I couldn’t agree more.
Of course, I did see a couple of reviews that gave less than 5-stars, however, the majority of those were still highly complimentary of the app, but complained that the videos were laggy. In my experience, this is usually attributed more to the person’s internet speed and quality than to the app itself. Also, I noticed that those reviews were left over a year ago, and I imagine the quality has only improved since then as I have had zero issues with the video quality.

Learn step-by-step dancing at any levels and it's great for beginners!
Furthermore, you get access to weekly live classes that allow you to work out with the community and get form cues and feedback in real-time.
Worth It? My Final Verdict
With over one million downloads and 12,000+ ratings with an average rating of 4.7/5 stars, and not to mention their 1,000+ classes, 10+ beginner-friendly dancing programs and over 100 talented instructors, STEEZY is well worth the price.
Although my experience with STEEZY is new, I will most definitely continue to use and explore the app, learning to dance as I go. I honestly never considered myself someone who had the capability to dance well, and while I’ll likely never be on Dancing With The Stars, I am happy to report that I can, indeed, learn some movements and have a lot of fun in the process.
STEEZY offers a great resource for dancers at all stages, providing plenty of resources to progress through your dancing journey at a pace that’s comfortable and efficient for you, while also allowing you to get a great workout in. If you’re looking for a fun new way to move your body, I highly recommend giving STEEZY a try!
